The TRF Ladies Association, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of the Company today successfully conducted yet another blood donation camp in its premises. It collected 163 units of blood on this occasion which was better than the 137 units that it had collected in October, 2008. On this occasion, Mrs P Kharkar, President, TRF Ladies Association also handed a cheque of Rs 13,000/- (Thirteen thousand) to the JUSCO Education Mission Foundation as sponsorship fee for the successful completion of vocational training of 13 youth from the SC and ST category, under the Company’s Affirmative Action Policy. The candidates were trained at JUSCO’s vocational training centre at Burmamines. The cheque was collected by Mr Chanchal Chakraborty, Head, Administration Schools, JUSCO.

Mr R C Nandrajog, lauded the efforts of the Ladies Association in area of community service and noted that the Association was focusing its resources on improving the quality of life of the under privileged sections of the society. He was confident the Ladies Association would gradually extend the scope of its activities and which would benefit more people.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rakeshwar Pandey, President, Tata Robins Fraser Labour Union emphasized that each one of us must undertake work which is beyond our profession. He said that such self less service to the community would not only be enriching but would also give us tremendous mental satisfaction to us.

The Ladies’ Association of TRF is a community-outreach wing of the Company. Since 2007, it has been organising two voluntary blood donation camps each year and this camp was the first in the current year. The Association also carries out numerous community building programmes such as literacy for children and vocational training for youth with emphasis for SC and ST section of the society, women’s empowerment through skill development, health clinics, cataract camps, etc
