Mr Subodh Bhargava Appointed Chairman of TRF Board of Directors
Mr Subodh Bhargava has been appointed independent, non-executive Chairman of TRF
Limited?s Board of Directors, subsequent to the stepping down of Dr Jamshed J Irani as the
Chairman of the Company. Mr Bhargava has been a Director in the Board of the Company since
October 30, 2000.
Born on March 30, 1942, Mr. Subodh Bhargava holds a Degree in Mechanical Engineering from
the University of Roorkee. He started his career with Balmer Lawrie & Co., Kolkata before joining
the Eicher group of companies in Delhi in 1975 and is now the Chairman Emeritus, Eicher group.
He is the past President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Association of
Indian Automobile Manufacturers; and the Vice President of the Tractor Manufacturers
Association. Over several years, he was therefore a key spokesperson for Indian industry,
contributing to and influencing government policy while simultaneously working with industry
to evolve new responses to the changing environment.
Mr. Bhargava has been closely associated with technical and management education in India. He
was the Chairman of the Board of Apprenticeship Training and Member of the Board of
Governors of the University of Roorkee; The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi; Indian
Institute of Management, Indore and the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India,
Ahmedabad.
He was also a Member of the senior panel of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)
set up for a comprehensive evaluation of research in engineering and technology; and on the
committee set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Department, Government of India for
policy perspectives for management education in India.
Mr Bhargava is also the Chairman of Tata Communications Ltd and Viom Networks Ltd (earlier
known as WTTL-Info Ltd). He is associated with several other companies as Director, some of
which are Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Carborundum Universal, Glaxo SmithKline Consumer
Healthcare, SRF Limited, Batliboi Limited, Larsen & Toubro Limited, etc.

TRF Ltd is a pioneer in engineering and supply of material handling equipment and systems for
five decades. TRF has recently acquired Hewitt Robins Fraser Limited, UK to enhance it scale of
bulk material equipment and make a more meaningful presence in both European and Indian
markets and the sub-continent. It also has business interest in automotive applications. The
company?s subsidiary, York Transport Equipment (Asia) Pte Limited, Singapore is engaged in the
business of production and distribution of trailer undergears, with market presence in 27
countries. York Transport Equipment (Asia) Pte Ltd has four manufacturing facilities world wide,
including one in India. TRF has also set up Adithya Automotive Applications Limited, an
automotive applications unit under a joint venture in Lucknow. More recently, TRF acquired the
Dutch Lanka Trailer (DLT) Manufacturers Limited, Sri Lanka. DLT is a world-class trailer
manufacturing company and has manufacturing facilities in Sri Lanka, Oman and India. It exports
trailers to as many as 30 countries.
