Blood Donation Camp organized by the TRF Ladies Association

The Company has been encouraging and has provided support to its Ladies’ Association, a community-outreach wing of TRF Ltd, to conduct blood donation camps regularly for several years. However, in 2007, the Ladies Association has decided to conduct at least two camps in each financial year.

A blood donation camp was organized by the TRF Ltd Ladies’ Association on the TRF premises, on February 14, 2008, and it got an overwhelming response from its employees and ‘family members’ of TRF Ltd.128 donors voluntarily donated blood at the one-day camp.

Similarly, another blood donation camp was arranged by the TRF Ltd Ladies Association (TRFLA) on the company premises in the month of August 2008, which too met with an overwhelming response from blood donors. It recorded a collection of 137 units of blood as opposed to 127 units, collected during the previous camp, held in February this year. The employees of TRF Ltd, along with other stakeholders of the Company have been voluntarily donating blood at the camps held twice every year at Company premises. It results in the collection of a very substantial number of units of blood for those in need. The first camp for 2008-09 was organised by the TRF Ltd Ladies Association, which has been managing the social responsibility initiatives of TRF Ltd.

In her welcome address during the inauguration of the camp, Mrs Kavita Majumdar, Secretary, TRFLA, compared the act of donating blood to that of gifting life. Mr R K Rahi, General Secretary, Tata Robins Fraser Labour Union Limited and guest of honour encouraged employees to step forward to donate blood as he said this is one deed which had no price tag attached to it.

Mr R C Nandrajog, Executive Director, TRF Ltd and the chief guest at the function emphasized, “in today’s scenario, where the need for safe blood is steadily on the rise, the Ladies’ Association and all donors are indeed serving the society in a way that deserves acknowledgement and appreciation,”.

The Ltd Ladies’ Association of TRF Ltd is a community-outreach wing of the Company. In 2007, it had decided to organise two voluntary blood donation camps each year. Each of its endeavours received the support of the Company’s management and Union.
